Rain and snow are in the forecast for Rockland County possibly beginning early Wednesday morning, continuing on and off through the day and into Thursday and Friday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). Local highway departments have already begun treating the roads in anticipating of a mix of snow and rain. A slight chance of snow is predicted after 3 a.m. with increasing clouds and a low around 31. The NWS expects any snowfall to end  before 9 a.m., then a chance of rain and cloudy with a high near 40. Northeast winds of 14 to 16 mph expected, with gusts as high as 29 mph.  A changeover to all snow anticipated after 9 p.m. Wednesday and becoming blustery with a north wind 18 to 21 mph and new snow accumulation of one to three inches possible. The possibility of more snow continues through early Thursday before temperatures rise and precipitation changes to rain and then switches back to snow on Thursday night into early Friday.
