The Birchwood Student Council takes beautifying their school seriously. The council organized last year and already its members created two gardens in front of the West Nyack school. The first garden was established in 2012, followed by a second one this year plus they recently helped younger students plant a friendship garden on the side of the school building.
Council members Hansoo, Anthony, James, Justin, Andrew, Michael, Carli, and Brenda designed the garden, dug it out and placed pavers in their first garden and raised money to purchase the plants for the second garden. Anthony also donated a lot of the plants, which should be arriving for planting soon.
“This is an outstanding group of students,” said Susan Buchweitz, co-advisor for the council. “They’re very committed to beautifying the school.”
