Bus Service Contracts, 2012 County Financial Report

Several Rockland County legislative committees will meet Tuesday evening and deal with a variety of issues. The Planning & Public Works Committee gathers at 7 p.m. and is expected to hear an update from the county’s public transportation department concerning the transportation contract extensions for county bus service with Hudson Transit Corp. and Rockland Transit Corp.

The Multi-Services Committee is scheduled to meet earlier at 6 p.m. One of its agenda items includes the approval of 15 contracts of more than $100,000 each for public health social work services for special educational services in preschool programs. The $18,525,000 cost covers services provided from July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014. Some of the programs are based at A Starting Place in Pearl River, Jawonio in New City and Small Steps in Nyack. 

The Budget & Finance Committee meets at 7:15 p.m. and is scheduled to receive Rockland County’s 2012 financial report from O’Connor Davies LLP.

Its members will vote on establishing equalization rates for each town and establishing taxable assessed value and full value for each town as requested by county Budget & Finance Commissioner Stephen DeGroat. The proposed taxable assessed value of property in Clarkstown is $4,314,862,034 and in Orangetown is $4,081,212,811. The full value of taxable property is $12,690,770,688 in Clarkstown and $7,803,466,178 in Orangetown.

The committee will set a date for a public hearing on a proposed law to use best value award methodology for purchase contracts and vote on an office lease for the district attorney’s drug task force from October 1, 2012 through September 30, 2018 for $1,439,683 from Glorious Sun Robert Martin LLC. The monthly rent costs $25,808 through December 31, 2015 then it increases to $26,324 in 2016 and rises again in 2017 and 2018.
