In 2011, the inaugural award was presented to two recipients, Laurie Seeman, a partner in the Strawtown Art & Garden Studio in West Nyack and Naomi Camilleri, Rockland Farm Alliance executive director.

"The Town of Clarkstown is a leader in environmental initiatives from purchasing to policy to public education," said Supervisor Alex Gromack.  "This award will give us the opportunity to recognize those in our community who share our dedication to our environment."
