Clarkstown Police Department Reaccredited

The Clarkstown Police Department received its Reaccreditation Certificate on Thursday at the NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) Law Enforcement Agency Accreditation Council meeting in Albany. The department was first accredited in 1998 and has been re-accredited every five years since then.

The accreditation program’s primary goals are increasing law enforcement’s effectiveness and efficiency, expanding cooperation and coordination between agencies, training personnel and promoting public confidence.

The accreditation evaluation consists of 133 standards in three categories: administrative, training and operations. The administrative section encompasses agency organization, fiscal management, personnel practices and records management. Training standards include basic and in-service instruction and specialized or technical assignments. Operations standards deal with high-speed pursuits, roadblocks and use of force. The department met and exceeded the required standards.
