Local 5 President Michael Clifford said union chose to support Lacorte because of his track record of keeping taxes down, investing in infrastructure and creating jobs. He said union members would campaign for Lacorte.
“He is the only candidate in the race who understands that to bring jobs to Rockland, government needs to keep taxes down and invest in infrastructure and economic development,” said Clifford. “There is no doubt, that if he can do for Rockland, what he has done for Suffern, our county will thrive.”

Lacorte said he would strive to make the county affordable for working families.
"Rockland County was built by hardworking members of the trades,” said Lacorte. “Unfortunately, our County Government has run them out of their homes with out-of-control spending. They deserve better from their County Executive and I will work tirelessly to support our unions and working families and to dig Rockland out of this fiscal mess."
The other Democrats in the race are County Legislator Ilan Schoenberger, former Spring Valley Justice David Fried and Vladimir Leon. The Republican candidate is County Legislator Ed Day.
