Couple Who Killed Grandfather Plead Guilty: Rockland County DA
They hid his body in a basement crawlspace before stealing all his stuff, prosecutors said.
NEW CITY, NY — A man who killed his grandfather and the accomplice who helped him wrap the body in a tablecloth and hide it in the basement crawlspace have both pleaded guilty, Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II announced.
New City residents Constantinos Doonan pled guilty to second-degree murder and Jo-Ann Haughey pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter before the Hon. Anne B. Bianchi on Monday.
In January 2023, Constantinos Mastakouirs was strangled and choked to death. After he was killed, Doonan and Haughey wrapped his body in a tablecloth and other materials and placed it in a crawl space in the basement of their home in New City. They then stole his belongings, including his car, jewelry, and credit card, prosecutors said.

"Both defendants will be sentenced to lengthy stateprison terms for their crimes," Walsh said.
Doonan, also known as "Dino," and Haughey were remanded to Rockland County Jail and is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 3, Walsh said. Doonan, 32, will be sentenced to 20 years to life in state prison.. Haughey, 26, will be sentenced to 15 years in state prison.

Walsh commended the investigation by the Clarkstown Police Department and prosecution by Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney Dominic Crispino and Supervising Assistant District Attorney Sharleen Bailon.
