Dr. Sheila Pongnon Honored with WCFR Lifesaving Partner Award
WCFR honors Dr. Sheila Pongnon with the Lifesaving Partner Award for her outstanding commitment to women's health and community care.

Nyack, NY – September 4, 2025 – Worldwide Community First Responder, Inc. (WCFR) is proud to recognize Dr. Sheila Pongnon, M.D., F.A.C.O.G., with the Lifesaving Partner Award at its 10+4 Anniversary & Fundraising Gala on September 13, 2025, at Nyack Seaport.
Dr. Pongnon is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist with more than two decades of experience dedicated to women’s health. Known for her compassionate care and clinical excellence, she has earned the trust of countless patients throughout her career.
Since 2015, she has served as a physician at Westchester Women’s Medical Healthcare, and her medical journey has also included service at Hudson Valley Hospital Center, Westchester Medical Practice, Mt. Vernon Hospital, Sound Shore Medical Center, and Lawrence Hospital.

A graduate of New York University (B.A. in Chemistry), Dr. Pongnon earned her M.D. from the State University of New York, Brooklyn in 2002, and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at New York Medical College in 2006. She also completed a post-baccalaureate premedical program at the Medical College of Pennsylvania – Hahnemann.
Dr. Pongnon is board-certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) and, as of December 2024, by the American Board of Obesity Medicine. She is also a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and maintains active memberships in the American Medical Association and The Obesity Society.

In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Pongnon is committed to education and mentorship. She serves as a preceptor for students at Marist College and has contributed to medical education through professional presentations, including her Grand Rounds lecture on “Dermatoses of Pregnancy” at Metropolitan Hospital Center.
Her patients consistently describe her as caring, professional, and deeply attentive. One noted, “Dr. Pongnon’s expertise, compassion, and patience truly set her apart. She provides a sense of genuine reassurance that is rare in the medical field.”
