Early Voting To Begin For 2024 Presidential Primary In Putnam County

Democrats and Republicans have voting options for the primary.

PUTNAM COUNTY, NY — The presidential primary in New York will be held Tuesday, April 4. There are three candidates on the ballot in the Democratic Primary, and four in the Republican Primary.

Voters registered as Democrats or Republicans in Putnam County have options for casting their ballots for presidential candidates. There’s early voting, which begins Saturday, early mail and absentee ballots, and of course going to the polls the day of.

Important upcoming deadlines for the presidential primary election are:

  • Submit an absentee ballot application in-person to your county board of elections: April 1
  • Return your voted absentee ballot by mail: Postmarked by April 2; your county board of elections must receive your ballot by April 9
  • Return your voted absentee ballot in-person: April 2 by close of polls at 9 p.m.

The Presidential Primary Election will only have eight days of early voting. Here are the times:

  • Saturday, March 23, 2024: 8:30 am to 5:30 pm
  • Sunday, March 24, 2024: 8:30 am to 5:30 pm
  • Monday, March 25, 2024: 8:30 am to 5:30 pm
  • Tuesday, March 26, 2024: 11:00 am to 8 pm
  • Wednesday, March 27, 2024: 8:30 am to 5:30 pm
  • Thursday, March 28, 2024: 11:00 am to 8 pm
  • Friday, March 29, 2024: 8:30 am to 5:30 pm
  • Saturday, March 30, 2024: 8:30 am to 5:30 pm

There are two sites:

  • Putnam County Board of Elections, 25 Old Route 6, Carmel NY 10512
  • North Highlands Fire House, 504 Fishkill Rd., Cold Spring NY 10516

If you cast a ballot during early voting then you are not allowed to vote on Election Day.

The results from early voting will be canvassed and reported after 9 p.m. April 2.

Of course, you can always go to the polls on the actual day of the primary. For the 2024 Presidential Primary, the Lakeview Elementary School is not available. If your election district is Carmel 11, Carmel 13 or Carmel 15, you will be voting at the Mahopac Middle School, 425 Baldwin Place Rd., Mahopac NY 10541. If your election district is Carmel 23 or Carmel 24, you will be voting at the Carmel Town Hall, 60 McAlpin Ave., Mahopac NY 10541.
