[UPDATE] Snow, Sleet Makes for Dangerous Driving
Winter storm brought meeting and program changes; lots of problems on key roads, including Thruway, PIP and Route 9W.
UPDATE (9:15 P.M.) - Tonight's snow and sleet has brought dangerous driving conditions throughout Rockland County.
Traffic is slow on the New York State Thruway and a portion of the Palisades Interstate Parkway in Orangetown was reported shut down because of numerous spin-outs. On Route 9W, police closed the road at Route 304 in Congers because of driving conditions.

The arrival of yet another winter storm is causing organizations to reschedule afternoon and evening meetings and activities. The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a Winter Storm Warning from 4 p.m. Monday through 10 a.m. Tuesday. The storm is expected to bring snow, sleet and freezing rain throughout Rockland County, possibly up to six inches. Wind gusts could reach 30 mph.
- The Clarkstown School District’s Annual Budget Outreach Committee meeting has been postponed from Monday night to Thursday, March 21 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and will be followed by a School Board Budget Workshop at 7:30 p.m. Both meetings will be held at the district’s Chestnut Grove offices at 62 Old Middletown Road in New City. Â
- The Pearl River School District has cancelled all activities after 4 p.m. Monday.Â
- The Nanuet School District has cancelled all after-school and evening activities and programs.
- Nyack School District has cancelled all after School activities today, Monday, March 18.
- Nanuet's Coupe Dance: Monday, March 18, Classes beginning at 8 pm and later are cancelled tonight due to poor weather conditions.
