HSRC to Hold Annual Dinner at Nyack Seaport on September 10, 2023

We'll honor Marjorie Johnson, Victor Alfieri, Arlene Clinkscale, and the winners of the postponed 2020 County Historic Preservation Awards.

The Historical Society of Rockland County (HSRC) is pleased to announce the 2023 Annual Dinner, to be held on Sunday, September 10, 2023 (6-10 pm), at The Nyack Seaport, 21 Burd Street, Nyack. Guests will enjoy a cocktail hour, award presentations and entertainment.

Award recipients at the Annual Dinner are:

  • Lifetime Service Award: Marjorie Johnson, Editor, South of the Mountains
  • Community Service Award: Judge Victor J. Alfieri, Congers
  • Living Landmark Award: Dr. Arlene Clinkscale, Nanuet

In addition, we will be celebrating the winners of the postponed 2020 Historic Preservation Merit Awards:

  • Preservation Leadership Award: Haverstraw Brick Museum Center for Historic Preservation
  • Preservation/Restoration Award: Supervisor George Hoehmann, Town of Clarkstown, and Stephen Tilly, Architect, for the Onderdonck-Tallman-Budke House, West Nyack
  • Rehabilitation Award: Andrew Asgar, CPA, for the former St. Stephen’s Church, Pearl River
  • Commendation: Justin Duerr on the publication of Henry Crowley: The Temple of Silence

An array of items will be available at a silent auction. Proceeds from this annual event benefit the operating fund of the Historical Society of Rockland County.

The Historical Society of Rockland County is a nonprofit educational institution and principal repository for original documents and artifacts relating to Rockland County. Its mission is to acquire, preserve, and exhibit objects, buildings, and sites that reflect the history of Rockland County and the Lower Hudson Valley and to research, document, promote, and publicize the county’s rich historical heritage for the people of Rockland. The HSRC’s headquarters at 20 Zukor Road, New City, New York, consist of a four-acre site featuring the 7,200 square foot History Center; the historic Jacob Blauvelt House; and the post-and-beam Historic Barn and Carriage House.

The HSRC is open, during exhibitions, events and programs Wednesdays–Fridays, 10 am–5 pm, and Saturdays–Sundays, 12–4 pm.
