Joseph Savino Resigned As Bronx Republican Committee Chair

Savino, who managed tax cert cases for Clarkstown, was named in political corruption case last week

Joseph “Jay” Savino handed in his resignation as chair of the Bronx Republican Committee just days after being charged with bribery conspiracy and wire fraud. Savino’s White Plains law firm had been hired to handle tax cert cases for the Town of Clarkstown just over a year ago but was terminated last Tuesday after the U.S. Attorney announced Savino and other political leaders’ arrest on political corruption allegations. The New York State Republican Committee issued a statement on Sunday announcing Savino’s resignation and the election of his replacement.

According to the release, “After accepting the resignation of Chairman Jay Savino, the Bronx County Republican Committee unanimously voted on Friday night to elect John M. Greaney as their new County Chair to fill out the remainder of former Chairman Savino’s unexpired term.”
