{UPDATE} Library Director Search Update Expected
New City Library Board hold regular monthly meeting following last week's special meeting.

The New City Library Board of Trustees meets tonight on the status of the New Director Search Committee and to discuss naming a liaison to the Friends of the New City Library. Some of the issues included in last Wednesday’s special meeting may come up again. Trustees approved Board President Tom Ninan’s attendance at library staff meetings and no decision was made on replacing or repairing the library’s non-working boiler.
The Friends of the New City Library is a not-for-profit organization that provides advocacy, increases public awareness and raises money for special library projects. Barry Warner, who was also a board member, revived it in 2011 however it is not currently active.

The New Director Search Committee chaired by Ninan narrowed the field of 20 applicants to two prospects. Ninan previously reported one candidate from New York had been interviewed and funds were requested to cover the cost of flying in the other candidate from Texas. The director’s position has been vacant since May 2012 and the interim director, who filled in for seven months, stepped down in late December to return to her regular job in the library.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m.
