Lowey Urges All To Learn From Holocaust Remembrance Day

Holcaust Remembrance Day, Yom Hashoah, honors the six million Jews who were murdered.

 

Congresswoman Nita Lowey (D-Westchester/Rockland) today issued a statement in honor of Holocaust Remembrance Day:

“Today, on Yom Hashoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day, we remember and pay tribute to the six million Jews who were murdered for who they were and what they believed.  We remember their stories, and the sober lesson of their deaths: never stand idly by and never remain silent in the face of evil and injustice.

“We will never forget – we will never forget the victims, and we will never cease to find inspiration in their strength, bravery and perseverance.

“But today is for more than remembering the past; it is a day for renewing our commitment to acting now and in the future; to working to secure peace and freedom for people of all faiths; to pursuing justice and advancing equality around the world.”
