Man Accused Of Shoplifting, Stealing Car In Rockland Arrested In NYC

Ramapo police alleged the man was still driving the Nissan.

RAMAPO, NY — A man accused of stealing a car and shoplifting in Rockland County was arrested in New York City, Ramapo police said.

On Feb. 14, Ramapo police detectives were assigned to investigate a stolen vehicle from a mechanic shop located in the Village of Airmont. The victim reported that the 2021 Nissan was removed from the parking lot unlawfully.

They not only identified a suspect but linked the 23-year-old man to another larceny that had occurred at Walmart several hours earlier.

The next day, February 15th, the man, whom police did not identify was arrested by the NYPD while still in possession of the stolen Nissan.

Ramapo detectives took him into custody and the vehicle was returned to the owner, police said.

The man faces a felony charge of grand larceny, plus misdemeanor charges of unauthorized use of a vehicle and petty larceny.

He was arraigned and issued an Appearance Ticket pending a future court appearance.
