Man Wanders Into Spring Valley Home, Tells Homeowner To Change The Locks: PD
A 22-year-old Spring Valley resident is facing a trespassing charge after the August incident, according to police.
SPRING VALLEY, NY — A man entered a local home in the middle of the night, then told a homeowner to change the locks and pick up toys in the basement, according to police.
Detective Matthew Galli said police received a trespassing complaint at a home on Sharon Drive around midnight on Aug. 24.
A male homeowner told police an unknown man had entered his residence while he wasn’t home. He reported to police that his wife was outside the residence with one of the couple’s children. Two other children had been asleep upstairs at the time, police said Friday.

The resident provided police with video footage showing the intruder wandering inside the residence, according to police.
The male homeowner told police he came home and encountered the intruder outside his house.

“The suspect approached the victim, asked if he lived at the residence, and then made comments suggesting the victim should change his locks and attend to toys left on the basement floor,” police said.
The intruder then left, and the resident called the police.
Following an investigation, police on Aug. 29 arrested Adrien J. Douglas, 22, of Spring Valley, and charged him with second-degree criminal trespass.
Douglas was arraigned in the Village of Spring Valley Justice Court and released on his own recognizance, police said. He was later taken to a hospital for a mental health evaluation.
