More Education Monies Expected In State Budget
State education aid to Rockland schools may increase by $14 million

Â
Assemblyman Kenneth Zebrowski issued the following statement on Tuesday evening about the proposed state budget for 2013-2014.
"I am happy to report that the final 2013-2014 NY State Budget is expected to increase education aid to Rockland schools by over $14 million dollars. Â My colleagues and I in the Legislature worked collaboratively with Governor Cuomo over the past several weeks to develop a budget plan that made education a priority. Â The tentative plan, which will be voted on by the Legislature later this week, is $5,500,000 or 60% above the original estimated increase. Â This revenue is critical to solidifying our school systems as Rockland County attempts to recover from the recession. Â The increase in aid will help our school administrators and teachers meet new challenges and continue to provide a quality education for students. Â The additional funding is also good news for homeowners as this investment should help ease the burden on property tax payers."
