More Education Monies Expected In State Budget

Assemblyman Kenneth Zebrowski issued the following statement on Tuesday evening about the proposed state budget for 2013-2014.

"I am happy to report that the final 2013-2014 NY State Budget is expected to increase education aid to Rockland schools by over $14 million dollars.  My colleagues and I in the Legislature worked collaboratively with Governor Cuomo over the past several weeks to develop a budget plan that made education a priority.  The tentative plan, which will be voted on by the Legislature later this week, is $5,500,000 or 60% above the original estimated increase.  This revenue is critical to solidifying our school systems as Rockland County attempts to recover from the recession.  The increase in aid will help our school administrators and teachers meet new challenges and continue to provide a quality education for students.  The additional funding is also good news for homeowners as this investment should help ease the burden on property tax payers."
