The hosting New City Softball 12U All Stars won the annual Hank Jaxel Tournament at Strawtown Field on Sunday. The New City team was undefeated during the two day tournament. In the finals, they defeated the Haverstraw All Stars 7-1.
New City won the tournament with strong defense, good pitching and timely hitting. Pitchers Kaitlyn Fudge and Sara Ferraro combined for a no hitter on Saturday. Fudge, Farraro and Jamie Polansky pitched for the victory against Havestraw on Sunday. The offense was helped with strong hitting from Emma Tacetta, Ferraro and Lily Medici.
Mike Tacetta manages the New City Softball 12U All Stars. The players are: Sara Ferraro, Emma Tacetta, Grace Stella, Caitlin Crowley, Lily Medici, Halle Medici, Maeve Downes, Jamie Polansky, Jenna Davida, Megan Keaveney, Kaitlyn Fudge and Abbey Zaslav.
