New Extended-Stay Hotel Opens In Rockland
Officials issued a county Certificate of Affirmation for compliance with pandemic protocols.

ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY — As Rockland County continues recovering from the coronavirus outbreak, officials welcomed a new hotel.
The Element by Westin opened last week in Spring Valley. The county assisted the Element management team with NY Forward guideline compliance and issued a Rockland County Certificate of Affirmation to demonstrate it is not only opening but doing so safely.
Officials for the new extended-stay hotel said they hope to attract business travelers and tourists who are looking for contemporary design and an eco-friendly vibe.

Located at 90 Spring Valley Marketplace, the hotel has 87 modern, apartment-style rooms with kitchenettes, a fitness center with an indoor heated pool, hot breakfast buffet and sleek lobby bar.
The county’s newest accommodation, just off I-87/287 at exit 14, is one of only 85 Element locations worldwide.

"We are excited to be opening in Rockland County, especially during these uncertain times," said Parakh Dani of SMG Hotels in an announcement about the opening. "We believe Rockland is going to be a good fit and look forward to welcoming business travelers and tourists this fall."
The project, which took 36 months to complete and is expected to create 20-plus jobs, represents a significant private investment, and provides a boost to one of Rockland’s core economic sectors — hospitality and tourism.
Tourism remains the state’s third largest industry, supporting close to a million jobs.
“This project is critically important now as it will help with the recovery of the local economy during and after the COVID-19 crisis. The fact that they are here is recognition of the strength of Rockland’s business market and demographics,” said county Economic Development & Tourism Director Jeremy Schulman.
A grand opening for the new hotel is planned for October.
“The new hotel offers another great reason for travelers to get off the NYS Thruway and stay in Rockland. This new Element will help energize the revamped Spring Valley Marketplace and Rockland’s economy,” said County Executive Ed Day.
