New Jersey Man Drowns In Lake Sebago: NY State Police
His family was unable to rescue him, police said.
ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY — New York State police report the death of a New Jersey man at Lake Sebago on Sunday.
State police and park police were called to the lake in Harriman State Park at about 6:30 p.m. Preliminary investigation revealed that Carlos G. Gomez Tay, 31, from Palisades Park, New Jersey, was with his family at the lake and went swimming, police said.
Gomez Tay swam out about 100 feet away from his family and then started calling for help before submerging. He did not resurface, police said.

His family attempted to help but were unsuccessful before calling 911.
Gomez Tay's body was located by the Theills Fire Department and Stony Point Dive team. He was pronounced deceased at the scene, police said.
