New Police Officer Appointments, Penalty And Fine Revisions

Clarkstown Town Board will promote two police officers and permanently appoint seven others.

The Town Board is holding a public hearing on amending chapters of the town code that relate to penalties and fines at the beginning of its 8 p.m. meeting on Tuesday.  The proposed amendments to the code would affect 26 chapters and would impose progressively higher fines and increased penalties for repeat offenders.  This is the town board's first regularly scheduled meeting since it terminated its contract for tax cert work with Joseph "Jay" Savino, who was arrested last week in a federal political corruption probe.

The board will vote on personnel changes in the police department including accepting the resignation of Lieutenant Charles T. Delo, who is retiring. The board will vote on the promotions of Lieutenant Jeffrey M. Wanamaker and Sergeant Christopher L. Brigando. Board members will vote on the permanent appointments as police officers for: William J. Cunnane, Michael A. Feltham, Eric W. Levy, Aaron D. Gould, Michael G. Graham, Steven E. Quinones, and Matthew J. Sheehy,
