Oil Delivery Driver Rescued After Being Pinned By His Own Truck
The NYSDOT, Haverstraw detectives and the Town of Ramapo Accident Reconstruction team are investigating.

POMONA, NY — A truck driver is fortunate to have survived a harrowing accident this morning.
The Haverstraw Police Department says that on Thursday, around 9:30 a.m., they received a report of a man pinned underneath an oil delivery truck at a home on Buckingham Court, in Pomona.
When police officers arrived on the scene, they found the man, who was identified as the driver of the truck, conscious but with injuries.

Units from the fire department and EMS then arrived on the scene and were able to extricate the driver. He was then taken by Haverstraw Ambulance to Westchester Medical Center.

An initial investigation found that the driver had just completed an oil delivery. While securing the oil hose at the back of the truck, which was parked on a hill, the vehicle began to roll backwards, over the driver, and down an embankment, investigators said.

Police say that the circumstances leading to the truck’s movement remain under investigation, and the Department of Transportation will inspect the vehicle to determine the cause.
The Haverstraw Police Department Detective Division is conducting the investigation with assistance from the Town of Ramapo Accident Reconstruction team.
