Parkway Crash Leads to New City Man's Arrest On DUI And Drug Possession

NJ State Police report prescription drugs found in Joseph Bruno's car after crash.

A New City man who drove off the Garden State Parkway and crashed his car into a tree in Washington Township, NJ, Thursday was charged with DUI and possession of prescription drugs, according to State Police Sgt. Adam Grossman.

Joseph Bruno, 25, of New City, was reportedly driving erratically on the southbound side of the highway before the accident, Grossman said. Bruno's white Jeep Grand Cherokee then swerved off the road into the center median, where it struck a tree at about 9:55 a.m.

Hillsdale, NJ, firefighters cut Bruno from the car, Grossman said. He was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center and treated for a compound fracture in his left leg.

Police discovered prescription drugs in the wrecked car and charged Bruno with DUI and posession of prescription drugs, Grossman said.
