Police ID Man Found Deceased In Suffern Quarry

SUFFERN, NY — Police have identified the man whose body was found floating in the Suffern Quarry Monday as a local resident originally from Guatemala.

Police Lt. William Simurra said Friday the victim is 57-year-old Mario Martinez-Campos.

An investigation into the man’s cause and manner of death is ongoing, according to Simurra.

The Rockland County Medical Examiner has conducted an autopsy. Its findings have not been made public.

Police do not believe there is any threat to the public at this time, Simurra said.
