Prostitution At Haverstraw Spa Runs Afoul Of The Law: Police

A joint undercover sting with NY State Police and Haverstraw police at Solace Springs Spa led to a prostitution arrest, authorities said.

HAVERSTRAW, NY — The Haverstraw Police Department says that on Friday, they conducted a joint operation with the New York State Police at Solace Springs Spa, located on Route 9W in Haverstraw.

The undercover operation followed allegations of prostitution taking place within the business.

Police say that 45-year-old Zongying Zhang, of Queens, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor prostitution and felony unauthorized practice of a profession.

Authorities allege that Zhang solicited an undercover investigator for sexual acts in exchange for payment and performed a massage without having a state-mandated professional massage therapy license.

The Village of Haverstraw Building Department has revoked the Certificate of Occupancy for Solace Springs Spa, effectively closing the business.

Zhang was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the Village of Haverstraw Justice Court.
