Red Cross Helping New City Family

The American Red Cross is working with one of the two families that lost their Phillips Hill Road home to fire Monday morning.  Carolyn Sherwin said Red Cross volunteers were at the scene of the New City blaze assisting the mother and her two children with emergency lodging, referrals and personal items. Mental health counselors were speaking with them about the loss of their two pets, a dog and a bird, and providing emotional support.

Sherwin hopes the second family left homeless by the fire does contact the Red Cross. She said contact information was left with the Clarkstown Police.
