Rockland County Reports 236 Overdoses In 2020
Rockland County data shows 33 people have died from overdoses so far in 2020.
ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY — Triple-digit numbers of people have overdosed on dangerous drugs so far this year in Rockland County.
According to data from the county district attorney's office, 236 people have overdosed on drugs so far in 2020.
Data shows of the overdose cases reported, 33 have resulted in a death. Another 203 people survived an overdose.

More specifically, six people who were given Narcan, and 27 who were not, died. Another 136 people given Narcan, along with 67 who were not, survived an overdose.
The DA's office shares weekly numbers regarding overdoses in the county. On its Facebook page, the office said most deaths reported were caused by synthetic opioids other than methadone.

Nationwide data shows overall deaths involving opioids decreased from 2017 to 2018, but deaths caused by synthetic opioids like manufactured fentanyl increased by 10 percent.
