Rockland To Host 2024 9/11 Ceremony At Memorial

The tolling of the bells accompanies the names of the victims read aloud.

ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY — Family members, clergy, first responders, county officials and others will mark the 23nd anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in a ceremony Monday.

If you're planning to attend, please arrive by 8:15 a.m.

As part of the annual commemoration, family members will read the names of the Rockland County victims. There will be a tolling of the bell followed by a moment of silent prayer at 8:46 a.m. in remembrance of the attack on the North Tower of the World Trade Center, and again at 9:03 a.m. in memory of the attack on the South Tower.

Five more bells will toll in remembrance of the attack on the Pentagon, the collapse of the South Tower, the crash of flight 93 into Shanksville, PA, the collapse of the North Tower, and the World Trade Center bombing in 1993.
