The Clarkstown Town Board will hold several presentations at the beginning on its Tuesday night meeting. They will recognize James Finn of West Nyack as Rockland County Senior Citizen of the Year; the graduates of the Clarkstown Youth Academy; STAR Kids, Inc. and Clarkstown High School South Principal James Vitale and Felix Festa Middle School Campus Principal Dianne Basso, who are retiring.
Three public hearings will take place on:
· Valley Cottage Fire District boundary lines
· Proposed Local Law amending Chapter 290-3 of the Town Code
· Proposed Local Law amending Chapter 290 for zoning of senior citizen housing, senior citizen congregate housing and assisted care living facilities.
The town board will vote on authorizing an agreement with the New York Power Authority for funding related to its agreement for a solar project at the former town landfill in West Nyack, which will be constructed by Onforce Solar. They will also vote on an agreement with Rockland County for mass transit and Lorencin Contracting Corp. for security updates at town hall. Upgrades to the security at town hall were approved in December.
The agenda includes community center upgrades and votes on authorizing bids for the improvements and an agreement with DCAK-MSA Architecture to work on the project. Various repairs and improvements for the Central Nyack, Congers and Pascack community centers had been discussed at a workshop meeting in April 2012.
Board members are scheduled to appoint Henry Mendez as a Clarkstown police officer and accept the resignation of Detective David Elmendorf, who is retiring. The board will act on re-establishing the Pride of Clarkstown Committee.
