It happened at an apartment building at 60 E. Eckerson Rd. around 9:51 p.m.

Alvarado-Jimenez fired a .22 caliber revolver multiple times, striking a parked Toyota pickup, according to police. Police say he then left the scene, then returned with an AR-15 assault rifle, which he used to shoot the parked vehicle twenty more times.

Two of the bullets entered nearby apartments “where children were playing,” which placed them in “grave risk of death,” police said.

“Thankfully, no one was injured by the gun fire,” police said.

Police said Alvarado-Jimenez threw both weapons in a body of water off McKenzie Avenue in Haverstraw. The New York State Police’s Under Water Recovery Team found the firearms used in the shooting.

Alvarado-Jimenez was charged with multiple counts, including second-degree criminal use of a firearm; second, third, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon; first-degree reckless endangerment; third-degree criminal mischief; and tampering with physical evidence.
