Jury Takes 10 Minutes to Convict Spring Valley Man in Deli Rob

That was fast.

It took a jury all but 10 minutes of deliberations to convict a Spring Valley man of robbing the Pitstop Deli on South Central Avenue.

Paul Giddens, 32, of 12 Aeslin Drive, Spring Valley was convicted of first-degree robbery and sentenced to 14 years in state prison, Rockland County District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe announced.

The jury trial on the June 2012 knifepoint robbery took three days.

Giddens will serve additional time on lesser charges related to the robbery and an unrelated conviction on a felony cocaine charge.
