The Clarkstown Town Board recognized some of the youths who participated in the winter S.T.A.R. Kids program at their Tuesday meeting. The S.T.A.R. Kids session included ice-skating and ice hockey at the Congers synthetic rink and the Palisades Center ice rink. Recreation & Parks Superintendent Jo Anne Pedersen said the program is designed for children at risk.
Children have learned kayaking and skateboarding at previous sessions. S.T.A.R Kids organizers said 270 children registered for ice-skating and hockey and they hope to double that number when the next session begins in October.
