Superintendent To Recommend South And Middle School Principal Candidates
Candidate recommendations will be presented at April 23 Clarkstown School Board meeting

Clarkstown School Superintendent Dr. J. Thomas Morton said he would recommend candidates for principal of Clarkstown South High School and principal of the Felix Festa Middle School Campus at the board of education’s next meeting on Tuesday, April 23. Morton said he expects the board will act on the recommendations at the meeting.
Clarkstown South Principal James Vitale announced last June he would retire on July 1, 2013 after having worked in the district since 2005. Felix Festa Campus Principal Dianne Basso submitted her resignation in August to the board. She will retire at the end of the school year after working in the district for 29 years.

Another item expected to be on the agenda for the next board meeting is requesting a waiver from the governor’s office for the school days missed because of Hurricane Sandy. Morton said the governor issued a proclamation in late March allowing school districts to apply for a waiver for the days that school was closed because of the storm and the resulting damage. The board must vote on the superintendent’s request to submit the waiver.
“We’re going to apply and keep it for open for any days missed,” said Morton last Thursday.
