Suspect Fired Shots Into His Own Vehicle In Shopping Mall Parking Lot: Police

The 28-year-old Garnerville resident was found standing next to his vehicle, with a shotgun nearby, according to Haverstraw police.

GARNERVILLE, NY — Road rage was aimed in a surprising direction, according to police in Rockland County.

The Haverstraw Police Department says that on Thursday, around 6:20 p.m., officers responded to the Mobil gas station on Route 202, in Garnerville, after receiving reports of shots fired.

At the scene, police report finding 28-year-old Capernicus Yodweyone, of Garnerville, standing next to a vehicle in the parking lot of the Foremost Shopping Center, in close proximity to a shotgun.

Cops say he fired multiple rounds from the shotgun into the unoccupied vehicle he had been driving.

Police recovered the weapon and arrested Yodweyone.

After being taken to the Haverstraw Police Department, he was charged with felony first-degree reckless endangerment. Yodweyone remains in custody awaiting arraignment.
