NEW CITY, NY — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. Together with Ring, we’re working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.

This submission comes from Michael G. Heim who nominated Luisa Heim of New City. Of his wife, Michael said, "Her love comes in many forms, from thermometers to meatballs."

Home town: New City

Hero's job: Health Care

Relationship to nominee: Spouse

Reason for recognition: Luisa is a dedicated mother of two and an RN at New York-Presbyterian Hospital in the Neuro ICU unit. During the pandemic her entire floor became COVID-19 patients. She is continuously putting others before herself, and always gets visits from past patients thanking her for her care.

One thing to know: Her love comes in many forms, from thermometers to meatballs, but
regardless what form it's always there for family, friends & patients.

Thank you for all you do, Luisa!
