Time Running Out For SBA Hurricane Damage Loan Applications
Deadline is approaching for Rockland businesses to file for SBA disaster loans

The deadline for Rockland businesses to file for Small Business Administration (SBA) disaster loans for physical damage resulting from Hurricane Sandy is Saturday, April 13. Assemblyman Ken Zebrowski (D-New City) said the SBA contacted him because numerous Rockland businesses affected by Hurricane Sandy, which received SBA disaster loan applications, have not returned them. That includes businesses, which had also applied for FEMA disaster assistance.
“Many businesses have slowly recovered while some are still struggling to get back on their feet, “stated Zebrowski. “This SBA loan allows for those who are still in need of help to receive the extra assistance they desperately need.”

The deadline to complete and return SBA applications for economic injury is July 31, 2013. The Economic Injury Disaster Loans do not require businesses to have sustained physical damage. They provide working capital for businesses whose operations were interrupted due to the storm and need financial assistance as they recover. Zebrowski noted if a business is approved for an SBA loan, it could turn down the loan without any penalty.
