The Clarkstown Town Board honored two longtime educators retiring from the Clarkstown School District. Clarkstown South High School Principal James Vitale and Felix Festa Middle School Campus Principal Dianne Basso are retiring later this month. Councilman George Hoehmann, who is a member of the Clarkstown Sunrise Rotary Club with Vitale, described them as "distinguished educators."
Vitale has been South's principal since 2005 and an educator for 37 years. Basso has been with the district for 29 years. She started as a math teacher.
Basso told the board members on Tuesday, "As a campus principal I've been fortunate to see it grow as a middle school and do positive good things for children."
