UPDATE: Two Congers Men Charged With Robbery At Knifepoint

Clarkstown police report two men who robbed three people at knifepoint on Friday night in Congers have been arrested.  Police charged two Congers men with robbery and assault in connection with the 10:30 p.m. incident on Old Haverstraw Road that resulted in injuries to one of the male victims. The suspects took a cell phone from one of the victims.

Police report Joseph Ramirez-Apuzzo, 19, was arrested Friday evening and charged with robbery first degree and assault second degree, both felonies, and criminal possession of a weapon and petit larceny, both misdemeanors. Police said they arrested Max Peligri, 18, on Monday and charged him with robbery first degree and assault second degree, both felonies.

According to Sgt. Jo Anne Fratianni the victims, two males and one female, were walking along Old Haverstraw Road when they were threatened.

“The two men ran up behind the victims, one suspect pushed victim # 1 to the ground, the second suspect displayed a knife,” she said.  “The suspects demanded that the victims empty their pockets.”

The person who was knocked down was taken to Nyack Hospital for a laceration on his leg. One of the victims reportedly recognized one of the suspects and told police.

Ramirez-Apuzzo was arraigned in Clarkstown Justice Court and sent to the Rockland County Correctional Facility on $15,000 bail. He returned to court on Monday. Peligri was arraigned in town court and sent to the county jail on $1,000 bail and was due in court today.
