Police ID Two In Stony Point Murder-Suicide: Update

Police said they had received a complaint on Saturday involving the couple and their children.

STONY POINT, NY — Stony Point police have identified the two people found shot dead Tuesday at their home on Rosetown Road as Colleen Williston, 35, and Sean Kelly, 38.

The initial investigation conducted by Stony Point Police Detectives, with assistance from the Rockland County Sheriffs BCI Unit and the Rockland County Medical Examiner’s Office, indicates that the two deceased individuals were the victims of a murder-suicide.

"Although we are still early in the investigation, the evidence indicates that Mr. Kelly shot
Ms. Williston and then turned the gun on himself, taking his own life," Lieut. Greg Becker said in an updated news release.

Officers found two people dead in an upstairs bedroom at 54 Rosetown Road, from apparent gunshot wounds.

As the investigation continues, detectives will be looking into what the motive for the shooting may have been, and if it was related to an earlier complaint, Becker said. On Saturday, Kelly reported a complaint to our department in the early morning hours, involving Williston and their two minor children.

That investigation led to a notification being made to Rockland County Child Protective Services,
and the investigation was still ongoing at the time of the shooting.

The children were not in the residence or in the custody of Kelly and Williston at the time of the shooting, police said.
