TZx Schedule Changes On April 8
Commuter bus schedule adjusted for changes in Metro North train times
Â
Commuters should be prepared for schedule adjustments in TAPPAN ZEExpress (TZx) bus service beginning Monday, April 8. The changes are divided between earlier and later departures so they meet Metro North trains and save commuters the hassle of lengthy waits for trains.Â
The new TZx schedule issued by the Rockland County Department of Public Transportation is posted at bus shelters, on buses and the county web site and the changes are highlighted.Â

Public Transportation Department Marketing Specialist Vincent Marzella said the schedule changes occur twice a year in October and April but this time around there were a lot of adjustments.Â
“We always adapt our TZxpress schedule to meet the Metro North train times,” he said on Thursday. “There was no elimination or addition of routes.”

He said the latest revisions are a mix of earlier and later departure times for the buses traveling between Rockland and Westchester counties so their arrivals coincide with that of the trains.
“More of them were moving later so (there’s) less of a layover time,” Marzella explained.
The changes are taking place for weekday and Saturday service and include departure time adjustments that range from five to 15 minutes. TZx buses operate between Suffern, Airmont, Spring Valley, Nanuet, Palisades Center, Central Nyack, Nyack and South Nyack and Metro North stations in Tarrytown and White Plains. All TZx buses are wheelchair accessible. In 2012, the number of TZxpress riders exceeded 469,000.
