Veterans Day Events Scheduled Throughout Rockland

Appreciations, outings, ceremonies, parades and lunches are on the calendar to honor vets and active members of the armed forces.

ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY — There are many events, activities and ceremonies scheduled around Veterans Day in Rockland County this year.

The Rockland County Veterans Services Agency has published this list:

Nov. 3

  • 11:30 a.m. - Town of Clarkstown Veterans Appreciation Ceremony and lunch at Street Community Center, 31 Zukor Road, New City, NY 10956. (Ceremony will be held outdoors).

Nov. 5

  • 10 a.m. - VVA 333 Ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park, 81 Hunt Road, Orangeburg NY 10962. All Welcome.
  • Noon - Rockland County Veterans’ Coordinating Council’s Vet of the Year Ceremony at 1 S. Main Street, New City, NY 10956. On steps of County Court House. All Welcome.
  • 2-6 p.m. - Frank’s 33rd Annual Marine Corps Birthday Party at Kearsing Edwards American Legion Post 1600, 20 Station Road, Pomona, NY. All Welcome-Bring a Buddy.

  • 2nd Commanders Cup Golf Outing hosted by VFW 9215. Blue Hill Golf Course, check in 7 a.m., 9 a.m. Shotgun Start/Best Ball. $25.00 for veterans, $100.00 for civilians includes 18 holes of golf, cart, and lunch. Raffles and 50/50, Longest Drive, Closest to the Pin, Team Prize and Hole in One. All Welcome.

Nov. 9

  • 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. - Town of Orangetown Celebrates our heroes. Veterans Drive-By Lunch at Veterans Memorial Park All Veterans, Active-Duty Military are welcome to receive a box lunch from the town of Orangetown. Orangetown Town Hall ONLY FOR Veterans and Active-Duty Military of Orangetown. Must RSVP by 11/6/23 at veteran@orangetown.com, and bring your email confirmation. Limited lunches are available.

Nov. 10

  • 11:30 a.m. - 30th Annual RC Marine Corp Birthday Luncheon, Krucker’s Catering & Picnic Grove, 81 Call Hollow Road, Pomona, NY 10970, 845-354-9832 $50.00 per person in advance $55.00 at the door. RSVP by October 31. All Welcome.
  • 7:30 p.m. - Rockland County Volunteer Firefighters’ Association host a United States Veteran Recognition Night at Wayne Hose Co. #1, 25. N. Liberty Drive, Stony Point, NY 10980. President Kurt Mulligan and the RCVFA Board of Directors cordially invite any Rockland County Firefighter who has served or currently serves in the United States Armed Forces to attend their November 10th meeting to be Thanked and Recognized for your service to our Great Country.

Nov. 11

  • 10 a.m. - Nanuet Civic Association, Veterans Day Service at Giraudin Veterans Memorial Park (Prospect Street by the Nanuet Train Station). Guest Speakers Susan Branam, Director of Rockland County Veterans Service Agency and John Zanfrandino, Korean War Combat Veteran. All Welcome.
  • 10 a.m. - Raymond W. DeMeola VFW Post #1615, Veterans Day Ceremony at the Walkway of Heroes in Tappan located at Independence Ave and Lowe Lane in Tappan, in the Town of Orangetown. All Welcome.
  • 11 a.m. - VMA Congers Annual Veterans Day Ceremony to take place at 66 Lake Road, Congers, NY 10920. All Welcome.
  • 11 a.m. - Mayor Michael F. Curley and the Village of Suffern Board of Trustees will be hosting the Annual Veteran’s Day Parade and Ceremony. Parade line up at Suffern Village Hall, 61 Washington Avenue at 11:00am. Ceremony to follow at the Soldier’s Monument on Washington Avenue. If weather is inclement, the ceremony will be held inside Suffern Community Center. All are invited for a buffet luncheon BBQ.   • 11:11 a.m - VFW Post 9215 is holding a Flag Retirement Ceremony at their Post 9215, 250 Birchwood Avenue, Upper Nyack, NY 10960. There will be coffee, hot lunch and camaraderie. All Welcome.
  • Noon - Buffalo Soldiers of Rockland County and Friends of Mt. Moor Cemetery Advisory Board, Veterans Day Service at Mt. Moor Cemetery (Palisades Mall). All Welcome.
