HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Each week, Patch will be highlighting volunteer opportunities in the Hudson Valley. This will be a chance to help your community and be an opportunity to give back — perhaps in a way you didn't consider before.
This week we are putting the spotlight on some opportunities in the Hudson Valley.
Thrift Shop Volunteers
Volunteers are needed to assist with sorting donations, organizing merchandise, and providing friendly customer service in this newly expanded thrift store. Great for ages 17+.
Date: 3/1 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

National History Day Judges
Adults of all ages and walks of life are needed to attend the regional National History Day competition and provide supportive feedback to middle- and high-school students on their projects.
Date: 3/29 from 7:30 a.m.-2 p.m; registration ends 3/1

Youth Mentors
Big Brothers and Big Sisters Youth Mentors are matched with a "Little" and share simple activities that could become hallmark moments in their lives, such as walking in the park, visiting the zoo, playing basketball, or just grabbing a slice of pizza. Each can have profound life- and skill-building effects for the "Little."
Date: Monthly (4 hours) for 1 year

Social Media Ambassadors
Volunteer social media ambassadors are needed to help spread awareness of important services for those impacted by ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, formerly known as Lou Gehrig's disease). Volunteers will create social media content, participate in events, and perform community outreach.

Health Aides and Nurses
Wartburg is seeking dedicated volunteers to serve in various roles—including Home Health Aides, Certified Nursing Assistants, and Licensed Practical Nurses—to support its senior residents by providing companionship, light assistance with daily activities, and assist with wellness programs.
