Woman Jumped Out Of Moving Car As Hallucinating Driver Sped Across Police Station Lawn, Cops Say

The driver, who was taken to the hospital, now faces a slew of criminal charges and traffic tickets, according to Stony Point police.

STONY POINT, NY — A driver who had too much, too fast made his presence known in a big way, according to police.

On July 18, just after midnight, a car sped into the parking lot of the Stony Point Police Department station and onto the front lawn, before entering a restricted area behind the station, police said.

A woman jumped from the vehicle as it drove through the police station property, according to cops. Stony Point police officers at the station were able to stop the vehicle before the driver was able to leave the parking lot.

The officers discovered that the driver was hallucinating and going through a drug-induced psychosis, officials said. The driver, Abdi Diaz, was placed under arrest and taken to the hospital for evaluation.

The 43-year-old West Haverstraw man was charged with DWAI, criminal mischief, reckless endangerment, and reckless driving, according to police. After being released from the hospital, Diaz was released with an appearance ticket and traffic tickets returnable Aug. 5.
