Woman Mugged in Nanuet Supermarket Parking Lot

Purse stolen; victim not injured.

Clarkstown police are looking for a man who mugged a woman in the parking lot of a Nanuet supermarket on Saturday morning.

A 47-year-old woman had her purse stolen at about 10:25 a.m. as she was at the Stop and Shop. She was not injured in the incident.

Police said that as the victim left the Stop & Shop off Middletown Road and walked to her car, her attacker was parked next to her car. The attacker, who was standing next to his car, grabbed the victim's purse from her shoulder, got into his car and then drove off.

The attacker's car was described as a newer model Ford four-door hatchback, dark gray with New York State license plates.  The attacker was described as a white male, about 20 years old, about 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10, with an average build. 

Clarkstown detectives are reviewing store surveillance video as part of the investigation. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 845-639-5800 or the TIPS line at 877-639-6233.
