1 Millionth Rider Takes LIRR To Islanders Game At UBS Arena

A father and son from Connecticut took the lucky ride on Tuesday night.

ELMONT, NY — At Tuesday's Islanders game, team and venue welcomed the one-millionth rider on the Long Island Rail Road since the UBS Arena opened in Nov. 2021.

Father and son, Steve and Michael Sosnick of Connecticut, were celebrated for the lucky ride and were recognized during the game.

Since opening the arena, more than 330,000 cars have been taken off the road, with customers opting for the UBS Arena LIRR station.

Additionally, the Ride, Dine & Have a Good Time pilot program launched a year ago. It incentivizes riders to use the train by offering a $20 food and beverage voucher for hundreds of randomly selected guests.
