LONG ISLAND, NY — Four young kittens on Long Island had a rough Memorial Day until two police officers swooped in. Police received several reports that "multiple kittens" were abandoned in a cardboard box on the sidewalk of Freeman Avenue Elmont, and they were found by a pair of officers at around 3:45 p.m., according to police. The kittens appeared to be unharmed and the officers took them to a local animal shelter, police said.
