Abandoned Kitten Found On LIE On Friday Afternoon: Police

The kitten was taken to the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter for assessment and treatment, police said.

NEW HYDE PARK, NY — Police report an animal rescue on Friday afternoon in New Hyde Park.

A highway patrol bureau officer was driving on the Long Island Expressway near Exit 34 when he stopped an abandoned kitten on the highway, police said.

The officer activated his emergency lights to stop traffic and rescue the kitten. The kitten appeared
unharmed and was transported to the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter for
assessment and treatment, police said.
