Belmont Park To Host Breeders' Cup In 2027

It's part of $455 million construction project that will turn the racetrack into a world-class racing site.

ELMONT, NY — Belmont Park will host the 2027 Breeders' Cup World Championship, Thoroughbred racing most prestigious international festival, Gov. Hochul announced.

The modernized venue is expected to be completed by Sept. 2026, creating 3,700 construction-related jobs and generate $1 billion construction-related economic impact. Belmont Park is getting a $455 million facelift that will result in world-class racing and an entertainment destination on Long Island.

Following the return of thoroughbred racing to Belmont in 2026, additional racing and non-racing activities at the new facility will generate $155 million in annual economic output and produce $10 million in new state and local tax revenue per year, the governor said.
