He says dementia remains the only chronic and widespread medical scourge for which there are no effective treatments. According to Dr. Jauhar, many Americans have a fundamental misunderstanding of dementia and Alzheimer’s. As our loved ones age a lot of people think that developing memory problems is normal, that you can't remember everything, but he says there's a difference between normal age-related memory changes where you forget someone’s name or where you put your keys, but he says what his father was experiencing was much more dramatic and malignant.
A copy of My Father's Brain: Life In The Shadow Of Alzheimer's, will be presented to all those who register, and Dr. Jauhar will sign books at the event.
