NEW HYDE PARK, NY — A ribbon cutting ceremony officially welcomed a new business to New Hyde Park, Dogtopia, a doggy day care, spa and boarding facility in the Garden City Park Shopping Center.

Dogtopia has more than 200 franchise locations, where dogs can attend supervised days of play with other dogs. Pet owners can check in on their dogs via webcam. The company has quickly grown since the pandemic, as pet adoption rates rose, Entrepreneur magazine reported.

Thomas Smith and Prima Gupta opened New Hyde Park's Dogtopia earlier this month at 2489 Jericho Tpke. According to a release from the company, Gupta worked in daycares, as well as at PetSmart and the Humane Society.

“I am excited Dogtopia is expanding throughout the Long Island area,” she said.

“Long Island is a diverse and beautiful community that is also under-resourced with pet enrichment wellness services. I really love the Dogtopia model and feel it benefits the overall health of local dogs. We are not just a daycare, we are a group of caring, dog loving individuals who genuinely love our jobs.”
